Add a description to a Content Automation template

Template descriptions provide template authors with additional context about the templates they are interacting with.

Permissions

Admins and Designers can add descriptions to Content Automation templates.

Find out if this capability is included in Smartsheet Regions or Smartsheet Gov.

Adding a description to a template

  1. Head to Templating in the main navigation menu.
  2. Open your template.
  3. Select the template variation you'd like to create a description for. 
  4. Select More followed by Variation Settings.
  5. Enter your Description.
  6. Select Save. 

This image shows an example of a template desciption.

Your description will now be visible to authors when they preview a template. You are able to use bullet points, bold words, and links to additional resources.
